LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- A federal appellate court decided Friday to review a ruling postponing California's October 7 recall election, while embattled Democratic Gov. Gray Davis got more campaign help from a high-profile visitor -- this time, former Vice President Al Gore.
"This is about a very large struggle in our country. It is a struggle over the future of self-government," Gore said, echoing Davis' line that a recall would unfairly reverse his re-election victory of just last year. "Nobody ought to overturn the say of the people."
Yes Mr. Gore it is a struggle in our country for the future of self government, a struggle that the 9th Circuit is currently undermining. The line that the recall would undermine and unfairly reverse Davis' election victory in November is patent dishonesty. How do you undermine the governor-ship of California more than Davis has it currently? The 38 billion dollar budget deficit and drivers licenses for illegals for example.
As to unfairly reversing the election? Over a million people signed the recall petition. I suppose those people are all unfair? I suppose they are all members of the "vast right wing conspiracy to undermine the constitution" Mr. Gore? In short Mr. Gore, those people want that pretentious gas bag, Davis, gone.
And to answer Mr. Gore's charge, "nobody ought to overturn the say of the people." Nobody except the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ostensibly.
In short, the intellectual dishonesty of Al Gore in this news item is quite appalling.
And just think, this man was almost president.
